Why frame is the stage that matters

Everything after frame is covering up. Once sarking, cladding and plaster are on, bracing and tie-down cannot be assessed without opening the wall.

N2 and what it means here

Casey sits in an N2 wind area under AS 4055. That classification sets the bracing units the frame needs and how it is tied down to the slab.

Bottom plate fixings

The most direct expression of the wind classification: one 75mm masonry nail at no more than 600mm centres, or bolts at 1200mm.

Plumb and alignment

Walls deviating from vertical beyond tolerance is one of the most common Clyde frame findings, and it is straightforward to correct at this point.

The termite barrier

The physical barrier goes in under the external walls at frame stage. If it is missed here, nobody sees it again.
