Wind classification and site conditions in Clyde VIC

Our own frame reports for Clyde reference an N2 wind classification under AS 4055, and that classification is what the bracing and tie-down schedule is designed against. It is the reason bottom plate fixings have to sit at 600mm nail or 1200mm bolt centres, and why we check that spacing rather than take it on trust.

Roof bracing has to be extended and bent as the manufacturer specifies, not simply fitted.

Wall intersections need fixing together at the spacing the standard sets.

Slotted brackets restrain internal walls laterally while allowing for movement.

What is an N2 wind classification?

It is a wind speed category under AS 4055 used to design bracing and tie-down. Our Clyde frame reports cite N2 for this area.

How does it affect my frame?

It sets how many bracing units the frame needs and how it is held down to the slab. We check the fixings achieve it.
